I've thought about making these! I have some scalemaille supplies and considered making some bracers for myself/my mersona. They're anodized aluminum, so I don't think they'd be much good as a costume piece in the water, but still!

Those would be nice as scale mail for merman. Although Tieri is probably right with the anodized aluminum not being long-lasting in water. But nevertheless nice.

Ok I was saving this secret for my tail but it seems a lot of mers really are into this. There's plastic ones to use for scale mail that will last a lot longer in water. They're clear so you'll have to paint them but a friend of mine has a skirt made from them and it's lasted pretty great.

Oohh, I heard about those! The website I got my aluminum scales from started offering the plastic ones recently, and you're right, they'd definitely last longer in the water!

Still though, the aluminum scales would look great as dry-performance pieces or even just as casual wear. I have a silver scalemaille choker and handflower that I wear on occasion. I love 'em! :D

Oh wow, those are shella cool. They do seem really merman-y, and would look awesome in some kind of ocean-themed battle armor.
