So I am still working on my silicone tail....but I started on an Elsa inspired hairclip....and now I need a tail to match!

Here's a WIP shot of the hairclip. I've since added more plants and sparklies. x3
I sketched out a design already, so now I need help! What kind of farbics are best? I want blue and shiny. xD And some sheer fabric for the fins I had in mind. Does anyone know how to sew ruffles? Haha....
I'll post more pics later with my design idea.... feel free to help out with fabric.... xD
I need to go bookmark that other thread with info on fabric tails! :)
Also, light blue isn't really my color.....so this tail might eventually go for sale with the matching top I plan to make and the hairclip.
oh my goodness I am excited to see how this comes out! good luck!! :)

Ooh loving the hair piece,
http://www.ebay.com/itm/MAT7-Frozen-Inspired-Elsa-9mm-Sequins-Fabric-150CM-Wide-little-stretch-11-color-/360917204891?pt=US_Fabric&var=&hash=item5408577f9b
that would be fab if you love sequins!!
You can get ruffled fabric,
You can get http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mid-Blue-Knitted-Stretch-Layered-Ruffles-RaRa-Clearance-Dress-Fabric-per-met-/350820111514?pt=UK_Crafts_Fabric&hash=item51ae82149a
that might make a good tail, basically I think anything spandex/Lycra or stretchy seems to work for me :-)

On the subject of sewing ruffles, gathering fabric into ruffles is really super easy if you have a sewing machine. Just do a straight stitch, then tug the threads to bunch up the fabric. Here's a great tutorial on the subject : http://prudentbaby.com/2012/05/baby-kid/clothing/gathering-how-to-gather-fabric/

sounds cool. I have contemplated this as well, as I have a huge stash of turquoise shiny spandex...too many projects, too little time. Can't wait to see your finished projects!! Good luck

http://mernetwork.com/index/showthread.php?3003-HUGE-THANK-YOU!-I-was-able-to-make-quot-Beta-Fish-quot-with-your-help-) <---- You should make it all flowy like they did, but in blues and whites with lots of sparkles.

Someone needs to do an earth Elsa version... "let it grow, let it grow!" (And I'm with you, I don't think Frozen was all that much chop, but Disney movies are always fun to parody!)

Okay.....it's been awhile..... XD
All mer projects got put on hold for my Mystique costume for Dragon Con, but now that it is nearly finished, I need a last minute tail for D*Con's mer meet!
At largest point my waist is 38 inches. From waist to ankles is 42 inches. About how much fabric is usually needed? Extra will be needed for the fluke of course, especially since I want to make it a couple of layers.
Thanks in advance!
