Hi there,

Not exactly sure where to put this thread but anyway.

I'm shortly going to be working with latex but before I make the 3D shape out of news paper and masking tape, would anyone with latex be kind enough to test for me if the latex comes off the tape? only has to be a tiny splotch. I'm aware it doesn't stick to things, I just don't want to buy the latex and make the form just to find out it will stick, to be safe more-or-less. If so I can change the materials being used.

Thank you -hugs n fishies-

I know it comes off of duct tape, but I think it would probably stick to masking tape because it's porous. Just like when we put it on fabric for mermaid tails, it works its way into the fibers and sticks. If you applied a release agent, it might come off, but don't use Vaseline or something that will damage latex.

That's my thought, but it I have any usable latex and find this to be different, I will try to remember to let you know.

One thing you'll want to consider is that the latex will pick up details from your mold, so if you had a paper mold with possible tape lines (assuming it doesn't stick) your finished latex product will have the texture of paper. That might not be what you want. I'm assuming you are making a mold to cast latex.

I'll keep those points in mind, though final layer of duct tape on the outside would be fine. I'm thinking of making an mold and painting layers of the latex on the outside of it then peeling it off...essentially the exposed outside surface would be the part viewed.

Thank you ShyMer ^_^
