View Full Version : Steam is mean. Gift me a game?

Steam (like many online retailers) is notorious for charging exorbitant rates on games for people outside the US. It's especially apparent when buying more expensive games - Dark Souls II is $50 for US players but $70 for me here in Australia. Now, I could play around with proxies and VPNs and alt accounts to try to get around paying the Aussie rate, but by far the easiest way around it would seem to be getting someone in America to gift the game to me.

So, would anyone here who has a steam account be willing to buy me Dark Souls II, if I send you the money first via paypal? I'd really appreciate it :)

Better off to pay the extra $20 because the exchange rate sucks right now. You would have to pay almost double the price in Aussie dollars to get the same cost price in US money.

I don't think that's right. Google quotes one US dollar as being worth 1.08 Aussie dollars. I don't think I've ever seen the exchange rate at anywhere near double. And anyway, I have US currency in my paypal account for these exact situations, haha.
