Ok so my mersona was kinda picked out for me by friends and family (both mer and non). My Kitsune counter part Kaguria is being highly requested to be brought to life as a mermaid. And thus Kaguria the Kitsune Mermaid was born. Ok so dilemma time. Kaguria is a red fox...red and orange tails are VERY common in the mer world almost as much as blues. Well...I want to stay true to Kaguria but unique.
Also, my sister-in-law really I should make a 9tails mertail. I literally asked her if she was ill or crazy? But as she explained the idea it really got my gears turning.
So to my merfriends I need thoughts and ideas, designs and tips on how to turn a Kitsune into a mermaid? Please help!!!

You get whate foxes right? so you tail doesn't have to be orange. Although lots of shades of orange with a white fluke would be cool and any extra fins could have white tips

I definitely agree with Yulia-- The first one would look PERFECT with the Betta fluke!

I really like the color scheme that Fifi put together, especially if you put it on the fluffy tail design you drew.

Hmm I may have to experiment with the browner fox fur idea it would be a lot calmer looking than bright red/orange.

I had a fabulous experience with merman Alexander of you talk to him I'm sure you can find the right solution for your tail and moreover his tails aren't expensive, just try he has a Facebook page with lots of pictures of all his creations ;)

Just an observation, any furry material is likely to drown you.

I like the first tail. And I'm with Pearlie. Fake fur will be hell in water.

Oh no no no I wouldn't actually use fur I was thinking stretch velvet. The brown fur idea was commenting on the color scheme, the fox she used was the typical brown wood fox. I'm still working on designs for the tail, I may even save these for when I get to be better at being a mermaid.

Well you can always use a material that looks like it but its safe in water

I wonder how a microsuede would work?

I've heard suede isn't good for water

Artificial suede would be like stretch velvet...there would be some drag, but not enough to be noticed. Probably equivalent to the surface texture of a silicone tail. Both negligible.

Hmm
Woah I never thought of using faux suede/microsuede for a tail... I have a goodly amount of that laying around, I suppose I'll be making a tail out of that now! :P
