I mentioned a merman vest some time ago but can't recall if it was on MerNetwork or Facebook. I have searched in vain for a vest made in the style of a loose-fitting photographer's vest, only without the pockets and made from twine similar to a traditional fishing net:

I envision such a vest being a merman's "pockets", a place to attach treasures he finds on his travels; shells, fishing lures, bits of coral and driftwood, and strands of seaweed.

Does anyone have a lead as to who might be able to craft such an item for me?

I might be able to!

I know I can, in fact... :D

Ireneho, those would look very sharp on a merman, but in the US, vest means waistcoat.

What then is an American vest? A boob tube?

Sometimes they button sometimes not. A sleeveless jacket, sort of.

I thought boob tube was television. :D

I've been thinking of a very similar idea! That fishnet Mermaid Jaffa shared isn't too bad an idea, even though I was thinking more of an actual vest myself, too.

I've been wondering what kind of materials would be best to work with. I'm very good at hand stitching, and I was planning on working on my own, as well. I'm not really certain what direction I'm planning on taking mine yet, but if I make any progress that looks good, I'll be happy to share it with you if you'd like! I might have to start some concept sketches!

(er, didn't realize this was an older post. hope this was okay to post in)
