Ok so just ordered my monofin *rapid from finis* and now the hard part...making the tail! I want to go spandex for my first tail mostly because it's a lot easier to sew and manuver in. However, I want to move my OC fursona Kaguria to the mer world. I'm not 100% sure what her tial would look like. Ideas and tips would be greatly appreciated. Below is a link to a galler of Kaguria through the years feel free to look and get an idea.

Hmm for some reason I see this looking best as a golden orange red tail, fading to white at the bottom with flecks of black on the edges of the fluke and whatever extra fins you have.

Hmm not a bad idea, the fading will be tricky

Use a sponge brush to get the fading part. It's what I did on my tail.

You could also try airbrushing! I got my airbrush from hobby lobby for $15 (I had a 40% off coupon) They are normally $25 but I love it! It is just a beginner airbrush, one function but you can adjust how heavy the paint spray is and it works well for good beginner projects

Have you ordered the fabric yet? :) stretch velvet would look lovely! sealskin and keeping the Kitsune fur-thing :)
and if you get white stretch velvet, even easier to paint your colours on!

Oh yea! Get white then use a fabric paint/dye in the airbrush to paint the whole thing. :)

How often do you replace the tail? And does the fabric flow comfortably?

Until now they all are still the same fabrics and aren't replaced, just repaired at the fluke-tips.

The colors don't fade bad or run?

The colors fade from chlorine, but not much
