Hello everyone, have had a good search through so sorry if I ask things that have been repeated I have looked honest!
Im planning on making a neoprene tail with the latex covering with the scale imprinted using chicken wire, now I have a mahina merfin that I'm planning on using bare for ease of putting on as well as limiting drag hopefully.

1) can you paint the merfin as it is, would a dyed latex bond to rubber?
2) vaguely how much latex will I require assuming I leave the fin bare.
3) can you use metallic acrylic paints to colour the latex and do they always have to be watered down?

Im planning on making a wrap around tail with a back seem hidden by a dorsal fin, any advice would be much lay appreciated as I've only made fabric tails in the past :-) I will be using casting liquid latex and my fabric is neoprene and not the dreaded neoprin !
planning on using the tail latex dyed one colour and then using more acrylic coloured latex to paint on details :-)
thanking you all very much

Ps: how much thickener is required does one part thickener to 3 parts latex sound about right?
