hy

I have a new idea about a merressort. It drives on the sea. Well buy a sailboat to travel on the sea. In summer we should travel in Europe and in the winter in the carribean. We need someone who clean up all, a cook, skipper, a co skipper and someone who know all about the ship. The cook will also have to do the clean up. And we also will have a secretary. The sailboat should have 8 cabins for merpeople and other cabins for the workers. When we will go a harbour we use gasoline. the merpeople should pay for a week with all meals about 1250 $.

please let me know whats your opinion about that.

Good luck finding the boatload of money you will need for all of that.

Like Ikkthu mentioned, that's going to be extremely expensive (and one MASSIVE sailboat...) Not to mention you'll be hard-pressed to find people willing to spend $1250 for a week (or more if they have to travel to even get on the boat in the first place)... Most people here on the forum are struggling to save up for tails and don't really have the funds to drop on a vacation like that, especially not often enough to make something like that in any way a practical business venture for strictly merfolk.

I also wonder what sort of impact something like that would have in terms of pollution going into the ocean... How often would this boat be landing in port? Where is all of the garbage, human waste, etc. going to be stored and how will it all be disposed? Your idea sounds more to me like a smaller-scale cruise ship, which I'm wary of because cruise ships are notorious for dumping a lot of really nasty pollutants into the ocean. :/

It should be a small cruise ship which have about 14 Peoples place on it. We save the garbarge on the sail boat and bring it then to harbour to the waste recycling. The Boat should landing in a port how often we would.

Dude, seriously? First, you asked for our help to build a school for merfolks and now, a cruise??
You must really believe that we are rich people...

I think he's just someone with big dreams.

What Tieri said, though.
Ships are big environment polluters:
they use heavy fuel oils to drive (very bad), they just dump their waste into the ocean (collecting it and bringing it to the harbor for recycling is a noble endeavor, but none of them do in reality), and some will even have a toxic paint coat to kill mussels trying to attach (they would slow the ship infinitesimally down, which costs cents of money, so srs bsnss and worth putting on a toxin that will poison the water all around).

And even if you find a way to make a super nature-friendly ship; I doubt you'd find enough mers willing or able to pay for that sort of thing, which they can have easier and cheaper elsewhere.

Well, I think it's a bit difficult...

I think the idea is possible. But not like a Cruise ship. The passengers must be a part of the crwe than. A "small" sailing yacht with one mast and 12meter (40ft) needs only a crew of 3 and enough space for 4 to 6 passengers. Such a ship can moor in smal marinas or bays. So are from one day up to some weeks possible.
The solution for waste and polution problem are waste tanks onbord. And for electricity solar panels.
The fuel driven engine is only for the case of an clamness or in an small marina.

We could finance that with a support of the tailmakers and some company or we will take a money credit.

I think you need to focus on one thing. Get your priorities straight, lay out a plan, and brainstorm on how you'll achieve this on your own before you come to the forum with a pitch like this. We aren't the ones wanting to create this. you are. It's your idea, your plan, thus it's your job to hammer out the details.

You do realize most tail makers struggle with finances, right? I mean, it's not a multi-million dollar gig with people rolling in cash to throw around. As for money credit, I take it you mean apply for a loan at a bank? Well, you don't need us for that. That'd be your own thing you start and do yourself then sell tickets for.

Arion pretty much summed up my thoughts, as did draggersprez.

Also, not sure I'd be comfortable on a boat for a whole week with a stranger that doesn't plan things thoroughly out and then asks for everyone to financially contribute before they've clearly put much thought into it. Big dreams are one thing, but there's a line that's quite crossed with this lack of planning and what is, quite frankly, a physically dangerous situation. Boats get lost and vanish, they get caught in storms, they sink, people get sick.... I can already tell no one has thought of any of that and the liability and cost involved with just that alone.

Sorry to be a buzzkill, and I'm not trying to be vicious or mean, but the lack of realism and you previous history of costly and unrealistic suggestions that you want contributions from us towards has left me a bit disenchanted.

Again, not trying to be mean, but you have to know your audience and what it is that you're asking of them.
