Hi everyone, I've been trying to find some cheap ways to make a monofin (not out of duct tape or anything like that) that actually looks good but doesn't cost just as much as buying a real one.
I'm thought about rubber, silicone, plastic (I can't find anyone who sells sheets of hard plastic) and yes even stuff like lexan polycarbonate but it's all too expensive.
I lost my job last year because I was taking care of my dying grandparents and I just want to do something nice for myself.

So if anyone has any ideas I would be really greatful.

There's not really any "cheap.l methods that work as well, otherwise everyone would be doing it. You can make one out of duct tape and cardboard but it's not gonna last you very long. You can make one with a rubber welcome mat reinforced with plastic but you're not going to get very far. The truth is if you want a monofin that's safe, reliable, sturdy, and usable, it's not going to come cheap. My lexan fin was around $60 but you could do cheaper if you made it smaller. You can get finis foils for around $40. My advice is just save as much as you can and get something that will last.

Cheapest you can go is a pair of flippers. The kind with wide blades, not the skinny freediver types.

Oh and there's this shop. It looks like they're having a sale. Rapid monofin for half the usual price!

Sometimes you can even find "like new" fins on Amazon for less than what they usually sell.
