View Full Version : Finis Competitor - how do people with tiny feet use them?
I've been oggling Merbella's tails for a while now and see that she uses Competitor monofins in them. I checked out the Finis site and it looks like these fins only come in women's US size 7.5 and up. I'm a size 6, sometimes as small as a 5.5 depending on the brand and I can actually wear some kids' shoes! I've heard that wearing neoprene booties can help compensate for Tiny Foot Syndrome, but can they compensate for a full size-and-a-half difference?
I may get a Competitor fin before ordering my tail so that I can practice in it (and then send it to Raven when I'm ready to order my tail).

I'm a 6.5 but can also sometimes wear down to a 5-5.5 (smaller with water shoes.. even the kids aren't small enough for me with a lot of brands). I got the smallest competitor, which is a medium. It was WAY too big for me without booties, but with 2 pairs of 2mm socks it's perfect. They also make 5mm, maybe even 6mm, socks if you need the extra thickness. Otherwise, go for a Foil. The foil has a small that's women's US 4-6. Oceana has veerrrrryyy tiny feet, she usually wears kids shoes, and the small foil was great for her.
Thanks! Socks might be the way to go for me, as I have sensitive skin that gets raw very easily if there's much friction. Frankly I'd worry about wearing any monofin without socks, so it may be a good thing they'd be necessary for me to use a Competitor.

Socks definitely sound like a good idea! I just swam in my competitor monofin for the first time today, and I already am feeling sores on my feet. I guess I got too used to my mermaid monofin from magictail.de. (It's really comfy, ha,ha.) Anyone know the best place to buy neoprene socks?
I bought a pair on Amazon and swam with them today for the first time. Definitely an improvement!
