Hi everyone!
I'm Mermaid Enora.
Currently making my first tail out of neoprene and sequins.
I'm also a real life fairy known as Lavendyre.
My glimmer of fairies that I fly with is The Westwood Fairies.
Always wanted to be a mermaid just as much as being a fairy and now its happening.
So excited to have found this site to help me along the way!
No pics of my tail yet as it is still in progress.

Eee! Hi! A new Texas mer! What color is your tail? Or well, what's the color scheme?

Its going to be turquoise and white with some very slight purple accents.
My skin has very unusual markings and so the tail will match that as well.
Its the opposite of my fairy attire which is mostly purple with turquoise accents.

Well if you need any help on wings I'm pretty good at making them.
My current wings are about 4 feet wide, go 1 foot above my head and extend about 2 feet behind me.
There's 10 wings in all. My sister has an even bigger pair with 12 wings, but she doesn't have a mermaid tail!

What materials did you use to try and make wings?

I used wire coat hangers, cellophane, duct tape (so the back wouldn't scrape me) and a bit of tape and an iron on a low setting.

I use drop ceiling/chain link fence repair wire (Home Depot)
craft/jewelry wire for inside wing designs (any craft store)
brown electrical tape (Home Depot)
Clear and colored Cellophane (any craft store)
spray adhesive (home depot)
the wire is really long and sturdy
i cover all exposed wire with electrical tape
glue the cellophane together with the spray adhesive
cut off the extra cellophane
then iron the edges flat
iron on high and use towel or paper between iron and cellophane
Make each wing pair(one for each side connected in the middle) separately and then last of all tape all wing pairs together with electrical tape
put on with corset or wing holster and enjoy!

Wing holster? I must know what that is. I made wings for Scarborough fair last year, and couldn't wear them because my cheap corset hurt me.

Your wings are beautiful. They remind me of stained glass windows. :)

Aziara,
a wing holster is something my sister made to hold her extremely large and heavy wings.
here's a pic of her wings on pinterest:

The wing holster is a very tight fitting under bust vest type corset. It has a big double lined deep pocket down the back were the wings sit.
It can't be seen once her shirt is on top.
The leaf covered corset is totally useless in holding the wings as that is done by the holster.
Hope this helps and maybe you can design on of your own.
