I had braces for five years.. I dealt with the frustration by looking forward to actually being able to chew when I got them off. I used to have a massive overbite and a crossbite. Didn't help the I'm missing two adult teeth on my top jaw. Missing as in never had them. At all.

This is my second time in braces. First was 5th-9th grade. I've been in these since April 2013 and am almost done with them.
Before I can get them off though, I have to have a double jaw surgery and septoplasty to line my jaw up properly. July 23 is my surgery date...

I had a lower mandibular setback when I was 17. (Lower jaw setback) and braces for about 4 years. Let me know if you need any help through it. You'll be eating nothing but liquids for a while if you can eat :/ I was on a 3 month liquid diet without help so all I drank was tomato juice because I was poor and didn't know any better. Which lead to more health problems. But now I know of many many liquid food remedies and goodies :)
Braces have really changed my life quite a bit. Although I hated the feeling of having been punched in the mouth every few weeks during adjustments.

I just had an appointment yesterday talking about all the recovery. I'm looking at 8 weeks liquid. Thankfully I still live at home so I'll be well taken care of. Apparently the part people find the worst is the hip pain from having bone removed for grafting.

I had braces for 1.8 years, and prior to that I had a hard- palette plate that was removable- for 8 months. I got my braces off 1.5 years ago, and have to wear retainers every night for the next 3.5 years :D It's so worth it though! I had very crowded teeth and they were just going to get worse if I didn't get it all done.

I had braces for five years, still have to wear a retainer constantly and can't remove it for more than an hour or so a day. I never had adult lateral incisors, so I have a fake one attached to my retainer on one side, and my canine has been moved to the spot beside my front tooth on the other. I have to have jaw surgery to get an implant in the empty spot, but can'y until I can pay for it.

I've had braces for 3 years and retainers for 1.
I will finally get my second phase of braces off in a couple of weeks!:yay::dance:
