First swim in my new tail planned for tonight!!!

So I've been working really hard this week to finish making my first tail (fabric with a Hydra monofin). I got it finished and am going to try it out tonight! I'm so excited about it!

Sorry no pictures of the finished tail or me in it yet, although I have tried it on already. I will post some as soon as I have some, maybe next week.

I've been swimming laps a lot for the past month or so and have been swimming with the Hydra monofin for a few weeks as well, so I should be ready for this next step!

I've been planning this step of my mer "initiation" quite carefully: it's no accident that this is happening on Midsummer eve. I'm meeting with my women's group tonight (which is like a non-demoninational spiritual group for women) for a Midsummer weekend spiritual retreat. Most of my friends in the group know about me becoming a mermaid and are excited to be there to support me as I take this next step on my journey.
I'll be sure and post about how it went when I return next week! (and hopefully some pictures too!)

So I got back from my weekend a few hours ago, and am super exhausted from all the fun tail swimming I did this weekend!
I don't think I realized how different swimming with a monofin was from swimming in a tail. I knew it would be different, but I don't think I really knew what to expect. All I can say is, I thought I liked swimming with the monofin, but tail swimming is EVEN better. WAY better! There's just no feeling like it, and I'm absolutely hooked now!

Unfortunately, my tail already needs some repairs. I think I scraped the sides of the fluke on the walls and bottom of the pool and now has some holes. I also need to sew the velcro in the fluke. But I think I can make it last a while longer. Now, pictures of me in the tail

I've got a really good video of me swimming, I'll try and upload that shortly as soon as I figure out how to do videos.
So happy, I am a proper mermaid now with a tail! Hooray!

I Love the hydra monofin. I think that would be my fin of choice if I finally get one.

There was actually another mermaid there who swam with me, and she had a Fin Fun monofin. It was interesting to finally be able to compare my hydra with something else and while I liked the way the fin fun monofin was kind of floppy and moved like a fish, I think she was a little jealous of the propulsion I had with the hydra. So I'm definitely happy with my choice so far.

ergh.. ok I changed it to unlisted I hope that enables it to play.
If anyone else has advice for posting videos from youtube that allow forum users to see them but not everyone else please help!
