What's the best kind of paint for spandex

So I'm starting yet another tail, I've been inspired by all the amazing creative mers out there and decided to take on another project, this one though will be painted plain spandex with a custom Monofin. What type of paint should I use? Do I need an air brush?

I'm using tulip fabric paint on mine, it seems to hold up well.

Lumiere paint is great if you want it to be shimmery.
