New tail makeover of a tail I purchased second hand from Baltimore USA, its made of neoprene and has a started paint job already done.
I will be doing some surgery on the tail to make it fit a child size 8-10 and to fit a Mahina monofin, it will get a new paint job and have a layer of silicone applied so it can be swum in :)

I have ordered some red neoprene from Linkron Australia today and I'm ordering another Mahina coral size M soon because I'm making my own whole tail/design! Very excited for this venture :yay:

Thanks everyone! :mermaid kiss:
I've just finished the other side with the help from my eldest daughter Jazzy and the monofin has been glued. Just a few touch ups tomorrow and then the whole thing will be covered with a layer of silicone to help keep the paint job safe :D

I'm sure this is somewhere on the forum, but you use the GE silicone for your tails right? How much do you think you use per tail?

I used Selleys Glass silicone sealant for aquariums because I thought if its safe for the fish it should be safe for the mermaids :)

I used 2 tubes on this tail but this is a childs size 8 - 10 so pretty small. For an adult tail you would probably use 6 or so depending on size and how thick you lay it on :)

Thanks a bunch! I want to do a test tail with non dragon skin silicone to see if I'm comfortable before spending such a large chunk of cash.

I'm also going to try thinning the silicone to see if I can add pigment to it. Fingers crossed it works :)

I've done small projects with the caulking where I used powder pigments and it worked wonderfully.
