Hi all!
I hope it's okay to start a new thread to share my first tail, mainly because there are some bits about mermaiding i'd like some tips on and that might clog up the "show of your tail" thread, haha!
first off,i'm nat! I'm from Hong Kong and have been following the mermaid community for quite a while now,
though i noticed there aren't many Asian mermaids around..! I only know of Syrena from Singapore who does mermaiding haha!
i decided to make my own mermaid tail a year ago, which i began by purchasing a monofin (had to ask a friend to bring it from the UK,i couldn't find any in my city!). I only started working on my tail last week when Summer started and right before I flew to Malaysia for vacation,
I mainly just added sequins to the fluke and adjusted the tail to fit to my body. The main body of the tail i left bare because i was pretty sure it'd need alot of fine-tuning for it to be swimmable.

A compilation of my first pool swim in my tail:
the body is made out of neoprene, which a Hydra monofin insert.
The sequins (2cm x 2cm) on the fluke are all sewn on by myself.
I plan to sequin the whole tail eventually when i'm able to improve its swimmability!

I've read about neoprene tails being quite buoyant when in water, and i found my fluke constantly floating which made it hard for me to dive. could it be the neoprene? or the sequins? or maybe air pockets in the tail?
I read that some people add weights to their tails to help them submerge?
I'm also guessing my tail isn't fitted tightly to my body enough because water just kept going into my tail whilst i swam and it created a lot of drag..!
It's only been a first swim but i'm already seeing alot of things I don't like about my tail,
for one i really regret getting those yellow sequins instead of using metallic gold....
and i should probably move the beginning point of the fluke a bit higher up since the foot-hold on the monofin seems very obvious in the video...
but anyhoo, i'm really excited about beginning my mermaiding experience and i can't wait to get to know all of you!
any advice,tips,comments are welcome! :D
