This is where I do a lot of mermaid gigs. This is the beautiful Valley of the Moon- Tucson's historical fantasy theme park dedicated to kindness to all.
Valley of the moon was created by George Phar Legler, Also know as "the mountain gnome", in 1923. George started Valley of the Moon with the idea of mental and spiritual healing in mind but also got inspiration from little girls who were fascinated by his dioramas at the nursing home. (Similar to the fairy houses you will see in the pictures) the main phrase of this wonderful magic kingdom is "Kindness to all is the golden key to happiness" which you may hear in many of the plays we have. 22202

Iv'e worked here since I was 13 and this is the place that inspired my mermaid dreams. There was a play that had a mermaid when I was starting there and I was helping with costumes. The girl playing mermaid met at my house and we worked on ideas to make it look good. Ended up just sewing fabric with a crappy fin, but that's what got the idea started in my head. I wish I had pictures of it!
so for a few years, the idea became more and more thought out and BAM! blue/brown tail was made. My first event was with me in the witches cauldron area in a little kiddie pool with my pirate boyfriend.22204

It's been a very long time past now and from tail to tail, I have been entertaining Tucson and supporting my favorite place with my mermaid magic as Mermaid Odette for nearly 7 years! Last year I left for a short time and to celebrate my return, they are having a first Saturday tour inspired by me to welcome Mermaid Odette home.22206
If you do want to dress up for the event, you can't wear a tail so put on an amazing skirt or pants to match your tail colors.

telling a story to the crowd

You can find me here on the first Saturdays and I also can be hired to do private events here as well. If you are ever in Tucson, I would be happy to give a historical tour or you can come see me for first Saturdays in my mermaid pond.
