A lot of people on my DA account call my the proverbial fox because almost every comment I leave is versed as a proverb from Japan or holds some philisophical ring to it. I've absently began to incorporate this into mernetwork by just staying in my mersona when I'm on here like I do online almost anywhere else. So I ask my fellow mers to join me in this forum and respond to Questions, Problems, or just chat as your Mermaid selves. I'd like to get to know my Brothers and Sisters as themselves to share with the children I'm sure to meet in my journey. To tell them of the mers of the world and their homes.

I met the most charming land child the other day, she was sitting by the concrete lagoon called a pool while enjoyed my first swim in my newly found tail (for I am a fox you know). I asked her what the noise and excitement on land was all about and she explained to me it was a festival of sorts. I've held and seen festivals in my home lands in Japan but none quite like these. Independance Day they called it. I found the fire rockets and upbeat music lively and exciting. Funny things humans, the ones on this continent are vastly different from my own, I'm curious to hear of these other human around the world. What are your humans like?

Oooooh this is so cute(≧∇≦)

Hi Kaguria!

First I just wanted to say that I'm not actually from Japan, but it is the native land of my ancestors. The meaning of my name is "child of the seashore". Anyway, I too experienced this bright festival! I was swimming in the Lake of the Ozarks near some docks, when people started showing up and dropping boats in the water very early! More than I had ever seen before! Some carried large plastic food boxes, others had paper bags, other still had large rectangles of bright colored cloth. But many kept bringing the brightest colored packages I'd ever seen. Many of the packages said things like "Warning" "caution" "flammable" "shoots flaming balls". I had no idea what they were, but they intimidated me and excited me. I did not like the loud music they played. It's nothing like songs of the water. As dusk came, I kept seeing people put sticks in containers, then they would light them with fire, and I would see a trail of sparks then a loud crack. I was intrigued by them, until I realized pieces of paper and sticks kept falling into the water! And no one picked them up! There was no way I could pick up all the trash myself. I lurked behind a dock as the sky grew dark when all of sudden, loud BANGS kept ringing through the air, followed by a burst of brightly colored sparks in the sky. I was completely mesmerized by these devices! But again, I soon realized after each bright burst of color, ash and debris rained from the sky into the water. My poor fish ): at least the lake is like a big river so everything flows towards the dam and is cleaned out.

Bubbles,

How rude to the poor fish, although a treatment facility sounds wonderful! Do they have many of them where you are from? the bright rockets I were told were fireworks. The name seems fitting enough to me. My people called them Fire sticks and were used for wars back when the nations were still very young. Oh Kishiko what a fine name, mine was given to me by my mother Inari the goddess of wisdom and harvest. Kaguria means "Guardian of Peace" and she entrusted the garden of wisdom to me. As the world grew and people became more advance I was forgotten and soon the shrine fell to ruien. I came to the new world on a large boat and in my travels I learned of the people of the sea, the mermaids and sirens. Tell me, what is like to be born of these people?

No not really, its more like a giant strainer so nothing gets into the power plants downriver. Fireworks? Hmm wasnt it the Chinese who invented those? It does seem fitting. I am sorry to hear that people forgot about you. Well Im not sure really! I actually wasnt born among them, well Im sure I was but while I was yet a babe my mother left me at my land parents home, because my father ( a human) died in an accident, and at the time it was forbidden for land and merfolk to have relations. My family (on land) was very close to my father, but their memory of him was erased when they found me, and were replaced with memories of me being their own. It was only a few months ago, that I found out about my mer-half. I love being able to transform between worlds though. So how did you come to be part of the mer world?

Upon wondering in the new land I heard stories of faye creatures, and horses that bare magic horns, of dragons, and other mystic beings such as myself. So many people still believed in these beings so deeply that I couldn't help but be curious myself as where to find them. While singing next to a river bank I thought I saw a rather large fish swimming and dancing under it's surface. Looking closer I was suddenly pulled in and beneath the glass waters I saw my first mermaid. With a sea glass pendant she blessed me with the gift to turn my fur tail into a fin tail and share in her world. Since then I have been practicing the transformation and trying to adjust to life in the waters instead of my native land.

I have never seen a Fox-human before! I've seen many foxes and many humans but never one such as yourself! What does your mer tail look like? I too am trying to adjust to the mer world, although I find it so strange, people believe merfolk do not exist, yet when they see me in the water they never question it or Try to capture me. I wonder why that is? Maybe they think it's a costume? What a silly thing that would be!

My tail is a vibrant red orange with black and white tips as my hind legs and elegant tail are mergs so that I may swim as swiftly as I run. Kitsune i find are not native to this land but many like to believe there are still quite a few in my homeland. Sadly those myths are simply that, myths that women tell their sons so that they be wary of beautiful women. I've heard of such costumes! I believe the younger humans call it cosplay, I guessing that is a play in costume. Such a silly think yet I think such a custom has saved the integrity of magical creatures such as ourselves.

Oh your tail sounds lovely! You know, I've noticed that my tail has changed a lot like it's growing or evolving. First it was just plain turquoise and silver, like dolphin skin. Then my fluke started getting color and markings, and now the front has this fishy texture, and then I had a new dorsal fin, and now my chest transforms into these fleshy blue scales! I wonder if that happens to all mers? Hmmm cosplay you say? That does sound silly, but I think you might be right, it may have saved us from experiments and capture!

Indeed from what I've heard other mermaids are just as various as us foxes, no two scales alike I wager.

Hi! I'm Azurin Luna, I'm from the more colder seas of this world. My tail changes too, but then more with the seasons, or so it looks to me. In the winter my tail is black with blue and white tips on the fins, but in summer my tail is blue and has more translusent fins. I've met one land child who was afraid of the water, until she saw me, her parents couldn't get her into the water. I found a little bit strange that some are so afraid of the water, while were I live on land is actually a few meters below sealevel, if something would have happened here to the dikes then we would all be swimming... not that I would mind though

Now that is a trick, living on land but below the sea. Is that a mermaid's magic?

Azurin Luna

I don't think it's a mermaid's trick, as there aren't many around, so far I haven't found any that live in the city I live in. I think it's more the fear of the water and their fight against it that made this possible. They also have the strange habit of making more land here too.

More land? Are is there magic in your land? I've heard of such being but from long long ago none that currently exist in this time, or so I thought.

If it was magic it would bring a lot less polution, sadly they use very big machines for it. They destroy the place they take the sad and dirt from and then distrub the place they dump all the sand and dirt again. It looked facinating at first, when they bew out the sandwater from their machines to create a new island, untill I learned what they had to do for it :(

What did you hear from long ago? What being are you refering too?

When I was first blessed with a human form there was magic all around. Those who made new land would pray to the fire god and bursts of hot flame and earth would come from cracks in the earth. They would guide theulten earth to water and soon new land was made

Oh what a wonderful summer I've had sisters. So many land children laughing a playing each awed and amazed by my new tail. I've never been so happy to among humans, even as a preistess I was not often surrounded by the young ones. Tell me sisters, what has summer been like for you?

Sadly I haven't had much chance to go swimming, but I did find a new home for my husband and I. We got married a few days before we sealed our deal on the house. We will get the key the 22nd of December

It's in a place close to Rotterdam, and lucky for me also close to a swimming pool. I hope they will let me swim there without problems
