In a thread Talia posted earlier in which Mermaid Cecelia, SINicallyTwisted, AniaR
and other contributed mentioned first time mermaid encounters.
Where at that time they were being questioned about if they were real. People questioning what they are seeing and whether the mermaid was real. I want to create that magic. Do you remember your first time. What was it that told you this isn’t real? Was it the tail? We can make changes if that’s the problem. Most people don’t get to touch a mermaid and see that the tail’s not slimy. Was it the way the mermaid moved? Little kids don’t have a whole lot of history to make a judgment.
How to make it real? People want to believe. This is where I saw my first Mermaid, I believed.

to be honest, it was the way the tail was attached to the body.

You mean the waistband, did it lift? Was this what you had seen when you were little?

i was like in grade five. it was during the time i found out santa wasnt real. (dad's writing was the same as santa clause...) so then i began doubting and questioning eveything. so when i saw madison, i knew from the waist down the tail was fake and that mermaids were not real. it was definitely the way it attached to the body.

I always knew they were costumes. And even though my sequin tail isn't finished, I've been asked by kids if I'm a real mermaid and I always tell them it's a costume, then explain all the work I'm putting into it. When they ask why, or if they're parents ask why, I simply say "Because it's fun". I've gotten a lot of really good feedback from it.

When/if I get a silicone tail, I might answer differently. I dunno.
