I want to try to make my very first tail, but, I'm being so indecisive about it. XD I'm sure we all have that problem at some point in time in the tail journey.
But I have a squid tail in mind, but I want something smooth, maybe like painted neoprene for that one. Mistakes will be easily seen in something like that.
Then there's these gorgeous sequins I want to use as scales for a tail! OMG! They would be so pretty!

Been so busy haven't had the chance to even go over which would be better.

Make em both! ;). Sequin tails take a very, veeeey long time to make so I would suggest doing the neoprene if you want to have a chance to swim in it this summer!

I'm making a sequin tail now and it really is taking the longest time ever to scale.

Don't forget to test out the durability of the sequins ahead of time :)

Didn't even think about how long the sequins might take.
Meemerdd I know what you mean about being indecisive about making a tail. I am the same way. I have my neoprene but I have not touched since it got here because I have no idea what I want to do with it. It is my first tail and I want it to look really good. I just cant make up my mind on what I want it to look like. I wanted to do a sequin tail too but I cant make a decision! It is so hard.

Oh, don't let your supplies and indecision paralyze you! Find a tail or mermaid photo you like, get some inexpensive bathing suit material and jump in and make a copy of it! It's your first tail, make your mistakes and discover things along the way! Look at it as a practice tail. As you work on it, ideas will come to mind and by the time you finish it, your perfect tail idea will have developed and you'll have the skills and confidence to tackle it!

I guess I really got to try the neoprene first, after finding holographic paint, that should make a very squid-y look to it. Hopefully.

I'm not sure what you mean by holographic paint. Paint with holographic glitter, yes... Holographic glitter is polyester mylar etched with a laser to refract rainbows of light. Do you mean interference paint?

Well, the paint I was looking at just said holographic paint.... Maybe there not the best to buy from then. XD I don't really know much about paint, but I could try interference then?

Ooh, now I'm curious what you were looking at! What's the brand? As for interference paint, I would mix a Pearl Ex iridescent color into a clear/transparent color fabric paint (Tulip has a lot of good kinds of fabric paint, check the fabric tail making threads for the best brands).
