Meeting other Mermaiders

So has anyone else had run ins with other mermaiders without it being a meet?

I messaged this page on facebook for creepypasta noting that it was declining in posts and offered to help admin it. The admin, the only other admin, gladly accepted my help. First she befriended me on facebook, double check that I wasn't a creeper, and then we were off and running.

The other day I was browsing a few mermaid fan sites when under the "friends who also liked this" area I saw her. So I messaged her about it. Turns out she has three fabric tails.

I've pointed her in the direction of this forum, but I don't think she's had a chance to check it out.

Anyone else had an experience similar?

I kind of have. I recently moved to a small town and checked out the local pool a few weeks ago and found an ad on their wall for a mermaid to attend parties. Called her up and met with her and I think we might become swim buddies once I get more practice in. Also found out through her the pool does allow tail swimming, but all party gigs are at the wave pool... so I definitely need to get more practice in because she has to enter the pool with the waves running for kids not to notice her.

She didn't know about the forum here, and I told her a little about it, but I don't think she's checked it out yet.

I've met a lot of "I have my tail in the car! I should join you!" people and I would encourage them to do so but they never do.

I've mentioned this forum at every chance I get. Some knew about it and others didn't.

I've only had one rather uncomfortable interaction towards my tail skirt. She asked me if I knew or heard of Mertailor and I said yes then she sneered, pointing at my skirt and walked off saying that I should consider getting an actual tail. My friend and I thought that was bit rude but we just shrugged it off and went about our business. Meh. Whatever. People are allowed to have their opinions. ;)

I once went out on a swim at Alexander Springs with my mertender, and ran into WavyMermaidy on a swim as well.

A few months later, I went on a swim at Rainbow Springs, and I was the only mermaid there, until two little girls with fabric tails joined me and we had a little pod going on! It was so cute!

I remember that, Celeste! My niece was visiting me from out of state and was mermaiding too, and I think she spotted you before I did, lol.

I think that's the only time I've run into anyone outside of a meet.

I've met quite a few people that are interested in it, and I've possibly made a few friends of mine into it (boys too!) but haven't run into another mermaid yet.

So the boyfriend found my twin last night. It's a girl he works with who has the same first name as I. Apparently we both like a lot of the same stuff. Including mermaiding. So it's looking like I may have three accomplices in trying to make silicon tails.
