Takeshi Yamada's Mermaids and other neat things

So Takeshi Yamada recently reached out to me to show me his neat collection of oddities. Some feature "sea monsters" and "mermaids" the kind that were created about 100 years ago for the freak shows and the oddity shops etc. He collects them and displays them in a museum. Some are very obviously creations, others are collections, and some- well who knows ;) but I thought it would be fun to share!

These are so fascinating, the mermaid's knives look really cool but don't seem practical...I can't figure out how one would hold the v-shaped one?
