I have been looking throughout the forum for a thread/post regarding repairing silicone tails and I cannot find one. Can someone direct me if there is one?
Or, Do you repair your own tails? I know that a lot of tail makers will do the repairs for you, but if it's a small area, is it feasible to do it yourself? do you have to get a spare supply of dragonskin?

It depends on the materials. I just called smooth on and asked what products I could use on my tail :)

You can get the "trial size" (pint) of Dragonskin for around thirty bucks. It is easy to mix and you can apply it like glue/paint. As long as the coat is thin, it will be clear. Too thick and it turns translucent white, but you can always paint that. For a tear I would first Dragonskin between the tear, pressing it together then letting it cure. Next I would do a somewhat thick layer along the tear on the inside (not super thick, just more than a gloss). Let that cure then do a think gloss coat on the outside of the tear. I don't know that all these steps would be necessary, but I am always paranoid that things will come apart, though silicone bonds REALLY well to itself.

What kind of repair do you need to do?

Dragonskin silicone will not ship to certain locations though. Can't get it here and some other places. They do have other products though that are great for repair, ship all over, and cost less. They have a caulking specifically for dragonskin repair. I found it perfect for small finger holes, rippedfins, or waist line stretch.

I would also lay in a little patch of stretchy fabric like power mesh on the inside and coat it with dragonskin.

Seriously? That sucks! It's always wild to me that you can get pretty much anything in the continental US (except vending machines with underwear in them), but you step outside and some things are so hard to get!

I haven't gotten my tail yet, but it's a used tail and I understand that there may need to be some repairs on it. I'm fairly crafty and artsy, so I was wondering if these areas weren't too far gone that I could repair them myself. Thank you for the advice!
