So I was a goof this morning and forgot to take in progress images, but I did finish the piece in about an hour?
Anyways, I found two plastic hair clips around my bedroom the other day and saved the bases for making this. It's netting, shells, shell beads, fake pearls, and shark teeth! (on the clips themselves) The plants are just woven in and haven't shown any inclination to shift from where I put them, so I don't feel like I have to sew or glue them down.
I may add more if I feel the need to put more shark teeth/plants on it, but for now it's done.

Thank you! This was my first time making a headpiece, so I was sort of eyeballing how I could do it.

If anyone's interested in the larger shells; they're mussels that I found stuck to pincushion sea urchins at the beach one day. It doesn't hurt the urchins to dislodge the shells so I was floating around in my prototype tail collecting small lions paws and such from them.
I soaked the mussel shells in hydrogen peroxide overnight to kill off any plant life that may have been on them, as well as to remove the strong fishy scent. When I woke up in the morning I was surprised to see that they had gone from a darker, duller color to more vibrant and colorful on both sides! Since my upcoming tail design has some purple scattered in the green and black I noticed they would help tie in the colors.

That's beautiful! Is it swimmable?

Thank you so much!
As for your question; I made it with swimming in mind but I haven't tested it in water yet. I've been letting the e6000 cure all the way. :) I'm hoping on getting a third plastic hair clip to put in the center for better support though, because in the picture you can see I was using a bobby pin to alleviate some of the weight from the clips.

I've actually been interested in getting a pair of raw abalone from Michael's eventually to polish. Do you have any good advice on what to polish shells with/how to polish them? I'm afraid I might ruin them by being careless.
