This. Is Rapidash. My silicone tail. She weighs 19lbs and is fitted with a competitor monofin. She was the very FIRST silicone tail ever made by Raven, and the first official tail of her company @merbellas Rapidash was cast thinner than the average tail, because I struggle with mobility issues.

As far as I can tell from my own research and calculations, Rapidash has been used more than any other silicone tail currently in the mer community, except for maybe Mermaid Linden’s. (Linden has had access to her spfx artist though to make repairs and touch ups on her tail, I have not. And Linden's tail has been around longer).

Rapdiash has been used multiple times a week, for 3 years. I’ve sat in her from anywhere from 1 hour to 7 depending on the gig. She’s been in salt, fresh, and chlorinated water. It is now July 2014 and in this year alone, I’ve been in Rapidash for about 130 hours. I don’t get “practice” time, so this translates specifically to gig time.

Rapidash was well made, but she was the first tail merbellas made, and merbellas have grown so much since then. I am receiving a new tail. I am stuck between pokemon names for it haha. I keep thinking flareon, or vulpix. You’ll see why soon.

I have babied this tail. While she is well used and loved, I’ve also done my best to take good care of her. She’s nearing retirement though. but I think she’s a good example of how long and well a tail can last if you take care of them. Tails are amazing, and if you treat them with care they can last for years.

Rapidash was my dream tail. All those years watching Splash and wanting to embody what I saw. Merbellas made that a reality for me. In fact, Merbellas changed the course of my life. I’m a full time mermaid now and the experiences I have had that go with it would not be possible if not for this tail.

I’m sad to retire her, but she needs the break for sure. And I am excited to evolve into my next mermaid level.

Show Rapidash some love! I want to send her out with a bang :)

I'll be sad to see Rapidash go (also, Pokemon names ftw!), but it's pretty awesome to find out that you got so much use from this tail! I hope your next one will last even longer. :)

I've always loved the look of Rapidash (it's awesome to finally know her name! I have a habit of naming my belongings too) and she's definitely worked a long time. Like a good wig though the time will eventually come for retiring. :)
Whenever I see Rapidash at a glance I immediately recognize her. It'll be interesting to see what new design you've come up with! From the sound of it you must really love fire Pokemon and Vulpix sounds like a great tail name!

That is a beautiful tail and you have used her so many time and the thousands of amazing pictures you have make this tail worth every moment you had. She deserves a nice wall set up with pictures all around. (I don't know of you apt will let you do that) But they should!

"Sometimes there are things in our lives that aren’t meant to stay. Sometimes the changes we don’t want are the changes we need to grow."

I can't imagine having to retire such wonderful tail but the time comes for all things doesn't it? That being said I can't wait to see the changes and growth into an even more beautiful ( if that's possible!) mermaid with an even more striking tail :D
