I have some questions:

1. As I stated in the title: What are some other mold making materials used besides ShellShock? How are they used to create the mold?

2. Why is Shell shock the preferred method for creating molds?

Fiberglass or ultracal. Ultracal can break easily and wears down eventually, but if you're in a garage or an area like that where you don't have to move the mold consistently, I love ultracal.

Fiberglass is a little more difficult and has to be used with a ventilation system since the fibers are extremely bad to breathe in.

I've never used shellshock! I prefer ultracal or fiberglass for my larger molds. ;)

Do you have to use a mold before using the dragon skin silicone? What are some surfaces and materials that DS silicone has been known to cure well on, besides fiberglass, ultra cal and Smooth on? I'm asking this because the tail I plan to make does not need a mold of scales.

Correction: I may not need to do a negative mold of the scales, since dragon skin is used for molding.

I was doing my tests over wax paper, the food storage kind, and the silicone would cure on it but not stick to it

Awesome! I've also seen somewhere that it cures on saranwrap?? (right?)
