Hello everybody!!!

I'm writing because I was planning to order a rapid monofin from finis… I was wondering how long they last because I already bought a finis foil monofin and after a few times wearing it, the foot pocket broke. Is anybody complaining because they don't last too long or are they very resistant?

I hope I asked the right question :cthulhu:

It seem quite odd that the pocket would break only after only that long... Are you sure you have the right size? Normally the Finis monofins are quite good when it comes to quality. Are you buying the rapid because of the foil? If so, I would wait, and contact the company you bought it from, or Finis, and tell them your situation. They may be able to do something about it. Although I do not own one myself, I have done a LOT of research, and have yet to hear anything about lack of quality.

I don't know. the thing is that he foil were kind of tight and i thought that they broke because of that. I bought them about 2 years ago and last year they snapped while I was swimming, I had them for 1 year already even though I used them only during the summer and the warranty lasts only 2 months. I went on the finis site and many reviews complained that they broke fairly quickly. :/

so I wanted to ask you guys because I see that such a large number of menfolks bought them! :(((

Hm. The rapid is a fair bit thicker, so you might have more luck with that one. However, I would still call whoever you bought the Foil from; if they are having issues with it, that should be sorted out. Make sure when you're swimming with it, to not put too much strain on the foot pockets by pulling outward, I know that can cause problems sometimes. People start out by practicing their dolphin kick (which is great), and then they get their monofin, and if their feet are a bit closer together than they are used to, they will try and pull against the sides of the pockets. While it is quite uncommon, that can cause problems. If people have complained about the Foil beforehand, then yes, I would say go for the rapid.

Ohhhhhh............. really??? I haven't heard anything about the Rapid breaking. Hm. I'm not sure then. You can always save up and buy a competitor! :)

Yeah. Have you looked at any of the Waterways? A slightly different shape than the Finis. They are more expensive, but have better reviews for longevity.

My Rapid cracked right down the middle after one swim; however, they immediately sent me a replacement and it has been just fine. If you get a bad item, they will send you a replacement no problem. I loved the Rapid... right up until I swam with a Competitor, LOL!

Hey y'all, my new Rapid tore at both foot pockets after only about 7 uses, SO annoyed. I was thinking of converting it into a fin to be used in my tail, since I need to cut one down and put it in there anyway. So do you think I could cut away the old pockets on it and attach zoomers with polyzap, as some have done with lexan for a DIY fin? I was just going to dremel off the ridges on the Rapid surface, to better fit the zoomers.

You could contact finis I'm sure, I don't know if poly zap will stick to the rapid.

Thanks! I wrote to them and sent in proof of purchase..I got it froma swimsupplier on ebay, not from their site, BUT their warranty page says they cover non-site purchases with exchanges (they just don't give refunds), so hopefully they will accept it. If not, I will use the E6000 fix someone else talked about to see if I can mend the pockets.

Either way I'm annoyed to be without my daily morning swim! :(

E6000 does not stick to the plastic of the rapid either. I tried several glues when I was making an extension with no luck. I didn't try polyzap though.

Oh sorry, I meant E6000 to fix the neoprene booties XD

If you want to replace the foot pockets you should look on Craigslist or call some scuba shops and see if you can't find some dirt cheap or free scuba fins and take the pockets off those. No use paying thirty bucks for zoomers to attach to a broken Rapid. I'm sure someone somewhere has fins worn out enough that they'd give then to you for free if you just want foot pockets.
