View Full Version : I want to apologize

I wanted to come on here and apologize for leaving the community on a bad note. I loved being a mermaid, I think about it every day, and really miss being apart of this community. There's a lot of drama, don't get me wrong, but there's a lot of support and great ideas that come with being apart of Mernetwork.
I'm sure most of you have seen me trying to sell my tail on Ebay and a lot of you have mixed emotions about it. Firstly, it never sold. I've listed it a handful of times and each time, although it "sells" the buyer never pays. I've had this tail now for well over a year. I never tried to make money off of it, just tried to get what I paid for (Ebay always take a couple hundred for fees so I listed it slightly higher the first go-round) and then I just realized it was unrealistic to get what I paid, and I lowered it almost 50% taking a HUGE loss on such a big investment ($2000 is not pocket change)
Honestly the tail would be great for someone that is looking for a silicone tail. It's WAY too heavy for me, and it's really tight (can't stretch or roll it down to get it on like I could my latex/neoprene tail). And I'm not fond of the color or style fins.
So with that being said...does anyone want to give me a second chance? I was terrified to come on here after the initial drama, so I stayed away, but now I want to come back and help clear my name.
& yes, I will happily answer any questions you have and/or hear out your thoughts......1-2-3 GO :)

I re-read your post 3 times, but can't tell whether it's an apology, or an attempt to finally find a buyer for that tail since it didn't sell on ebay.

Yeah. I'm all for redemption . I've apologized to the community too and tried to move past it. But an apology generally consists of " I was wrong, I shouldn't have done ____ from now on I'll try hard to _____ " sort of deal. I'm with cat on this one.

I thought Eric had given you a massive discount and sold it to you for way under the half price range though :/
I'm with Caltuna on this one. You've had a silicone tail before, I don't get why that one would be any different...
Don't answer me lol, just talking to myself.

I don't think anyone can really stop you from coming back if you really want to. The mods didn't ban you or anything, I don't think.

I wasn't really around MerNetwork when all the drama with your tail went down, so I don't really have a place in saying whether you should/shouldn't be given a second chance, but I'll be honest with you: from what I've read about the situation here on the forums it's not just about the one tail, there seems to be a whole host of issues regarding lying, plagiarism, and general sleazy behavior that have all been curiously left out of this apology/sales pitch.
I don't personally have any beef with you, and I think it's good that you want to come back and try to make amends and redeem yourself. Hopefully things work out for you.

I think what most people are looking for is an admission of guilt and understanding why people would be upset with you.

As being a VERY new mer to this community but having delt with many a situation like these (you get this in the graphic and selling business) I'd have to voice my agreement with a few others. "I'm sorry for everything I realize what I did wasn't right/good/taken well/etc. Please let's move on and be friends once more." I'd personally have posted the tail problems in the selling tail threads, but the mods will let you know if it's a problem. All I can say is welcome back mer sister and may the currents guide you in the right direction.

It's not fun to take other's criticism I get it. but when I made my apology to the community I tried to listen to exactly the concerns people had. Now, I wasn't going to roll over and do everything people said because I have to be me and do what I think was right. but I let them know I heard things loud and clear, that I understood how some of my positive intentions came out the wrong way because of how I did them, and how'd Id make a big effort to try and change that. Though I maintained that I still felt what I did was right at the time, I'd make an effort in the future.
We've had people on mernetwork "come back " (you werent banned) after all sorts of explosions. Some last because they make an effort. Some don't because they do the same old thing. Then there's the handful that publicly quit mernetwork 1-2 times a year but always comes back and always stir up the same old sh*t. :p My point is no one is stopping you from coming back except you. You can post and do whatever. It's more if you want people to see you differently you need to act differently

Good luck! It will definitely take work on your part but I think its a worthwhile effort if you're serious.

I don't think it hurts to give people second chances. Everyone makes mistakes in life, and sometimes those mistakes are actually the catalyst for said change.
I say be the change you want to see in the world, and the change I want to see is a willingness to forgive and love people no matter what. Which doesn't mean you have to take being treated badly, but I did not see the post above as another way for her to sell the tail. It DID seem like an apology to me.

Well this is something I learned on my skin: if you made a mistake just apologies, promise you won't do it again (because everyone learns something by their mistakes) and ACT differently; people will give you a second opportunity to show who you really are but if it's real what Raina says (that is the 4 time, and I believe Raina doesn't tell lies)...well in that case I think that the game is over and everyone knows perfectly who you are and so on and so forth...
Anyway I understand human nature and errate humanum est just show us you really want to change.
It's not a judgment, I'm just trying to explain my point of view.

I agree with most of the posters...I'm new, but I've read all the old threads. However, I've done stupid and selfish things in my life and I would like to think I've become a better and more humble person in the aftermath, who was given second chances by some very patient people. So I'm all for doing the same to others!
However, your post up there really comes off as you wanting to sell the tail and that being your main reason for coming back. Is that really why you've come back, and if it is, then what do you think OTHERS would think of you if you admitted this?
Also, "clearing your name" involves proving that you have been falsely accused of something. But if you really did these things in that past that everyone wrote about, you cannot clear your name. You can only deal with the kind of damage your name has accrued and hopefully slowly build some new trust on top of it. It's very easy to lose one's reputation and very, very hard to get it back. So hopefully you will recognize the difference between denying things that you've done and accepting and atoning for them.

The purpose of me writing here wasn't to try and sell my tail, I only mention it because it seems to me that selling my tail is what started all the questions/concerns. And yes, it was my first silicone tail. I've had a mertailor tail before but it was the latex/neoprene tail, not silicone. With all the extra fins on my silicone tail, I can't roll it down like most of you do to get it on, and I'm not sure if it was casted too think but it has no stretch (should it?). I purchased a silicone shell top from Blue Mermaid (a MVD top) and the top is way more stretchy than my tail. I just can't get it on without really working hard (and cramping!).
I will say I can't believe how much people have changed since I was last on here! Everyone is doing so good! New tails, awesome new businesses, really getting themselves out there! So proud of you all & inspired to get back into it myself!

I just want to say I think it is brave of you to get on here and make this post. It is not easy sometimes to get back into things when negative stuff has gone down. Good luck with everything. :)

Of course you're still welcome here! People are bound to be skeptical, what with past drama, but over time if you stay genuine and sincere I'm sure we can all agree to just leave it in the past. I agree with what shimmy said. Just walk your talk and all will be well :)

I admire that you came on to mend the friendship with the community ! Everyone makes bad choices sometimes, and we can all learn from our mistakes. Hope you have a happy return to the forum!
