Dunno if this is in the right section, please move if it's not :)

I love all of your wonderful tail making threads, and despite how much I would love to try making one myself, living where I do stops me a little. The materials you use I can't get here, and shipping is super expensive for a gallon of dragon skin  And I have a wrist problem, that would make the process take a looong time. So what do I do ?

I start making a miniature tail of course :)
I own a couple of ball jointed dolls, and I don't like the mermaid dolls they make with joints, so I thought it would be a great idea trying to make tails for them.
I will try the my best to do it the way "real" tails are made, scale board, fluke design and so on, but the materials will be a little different, since its okay its not dragon skin, because a doll has to wear it.

Right now I'm making different kind of scale molds, trying to see what looks best, they have to be really small, my dolls are 60cm high.

So if your interested I would love sharing my tail making, despite it's not a lovely real size tail :)

I hope I can realize this, and maeby sell them to ball jointed doll owners, and save up for a tail to myself :)

Here is my first victim of the tail making. I'm making a red tail for it :)

Good luck! I think her facial expression is perfect for a more traditional siren type!

I love your paint job! Good luck with the tail!

I was asked about making BJD tails, but the come in so many sizes, I couldn't make it cost effective to make all those molds!

Thanks PearlieMae, I have been painting these Dolls for almost 6 years now.

Here is the first little scale test, I think it looks okay, so today I will make a bigger one, and focus more on details, since this was only a test if it worked :-) http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/31/e6u4azuz.jpg

Ok so I'm excited to see what you come up with, but I do gotta warn you that you still want to make sure your silicone is safe. It might not be going on a human, but you still have to handle it yourself and it will still put off fumes near you and all that stuff. Also be careful of how it will wear, there's silicone jointless doll bodies out there (made to wear Dollfie Dream heads) and they're beautiful, but well known for degrading over time and getting weird crack marks and scuffs on frequently moved parts like knees and elbows.
