View Full Version : Mer-fied water guns?

One of my Mer-students was very adamant on having a water gun to swim with that's decorated to look like something a mer-person would carry. He wants it attatched by a strap to the vest that I made for him. He's older than me and seemed the least likely candidate to suggest the idea before me but he did. We ended up buying three water guns for our "Training Pod" (as I like to call it because I'm teaching them everything) to use.
Has anyone else tried to do this? It sounds like a fun/cute thing to do for mer-gatherings (of course as long as the ones getting sprayed are okay with it!)

Not heard of anything like that, but it's a shame that it would probably be super-difficult to rig a trident with water pistol features.

WHAT ABOUT THIS. You know those simple water streamers? The ones that are basically a tube with a plunger? Cover it in something to make it look like a trident on the shooting end and a handle on the other! Bam trident watergun. They could be decorated other ways too

I'd picture merfolk being mostly in and under water, so having a water shooter as a "weapon" is strange (unless you figure using them for shooting birds and insects out of the air like some amphibians do).

it's also unheard of as a traditional merweapon (spears, polearms, knives and tridents), but could be a fun novelty item for pool parties I guess.

I totally agree with you about it being strange to be carried as a weapon unless-like you said-they utilized them like how Archer Fish catch prey. Then of course if we were to think DC comics and how there's hard water tech- Nah there's my fangirl coming into play. Thanks a lot for the input, it's actually something that hadn't crossed my mind yet!

I sort of caught onto Oran's idea because in my city every Fourth of July there's a parade that turns into an all out water battle between the floats and the crowd. Since I'm the first mermaid in my city I'd figure it would be a fun thing to volunteer with. They always have trailers pulled behind trucks with full pools or a tarp tied onto it to hold water like one. My old high school has quite a few floats, and my old drama club from there is even thinking on making one soon. I'm sure they'd love to have a mermaid(possibly plus a merman once we get his tail because he's an alumni from there too.) promoting the club!
