Hey (again). First thing, I do apologize, because I'm pretty sure this is the fifth post I've started today. Second, I have a question which, I am sorry to say, I couldn't find within the amount of time I had before losing all patience whatsoever. Anyways, the main point:
I've got a fabric tail, and I have a monofin. I left the entire bottom of the tail open so I could slide the monofin inside once I get my feet in, but I don't wantit to flap around and be open when I'm swimming because that would expose the monofin. I do have extra fabric past the monofin that I can fold over or something if need be, or just leave it free to flow, but I would like the two pieces to stay together. I also want it to be able to open up for when I take the monofin out. What does everybody else do???

You could use Velcro or plastic snaps.

Would the velcro not come apart in the water after a while though?

No, Velcro is great in the water. I have weight bearing straps that are held with Velcro and they never come apart until I pull them apart...they are sewn onto the straps, the sticky back kind doesn't work well in water.

Oh, really? Hm, I may do that then! I am putting little rhinestone/gem things on the end of the tail, so I can sew the velcro on and the gems will cover up the seams. Thanks :)

My Mernation fabric tail has Velcro to keep the ends together.

Oh really? Well, I'm set then! Just finished remeasuring the width of my tail, going to sew today, and possibly paint it a bit too :) I am indeed going to Michaels today, so I'll pick up some velcro from there too. Is there a specific brand/size/width that I should get? Having a dad who literally fixes everything with velcro (you know, instead of duct tape), I have learned there are way too many kind of velcro than there should be in the world.

I also used velcro to close my tail when the monofin is inside. You can see the seams, but you can hide that with decoration as you mentioned.

Yes, I'm not worried about the seam. I will find some way to cover it up :)

Make sure you get industrial strength! Regular craft Velcro with wear out (:

Industrial strength, okay. Actually, I think I may have a bit of that from when my dad fixed the entire side of our tent trailer...

Another option that is a bit more secure is a long plastic zipper.

Yeah, I had a zipper, but it kept on bunching up at the bottom and kind of ruined the end of the fluke. I think I'll try and get some thin strips of velcro. Thanks for your help!
