So I'm going to try and fix my Mertailor Silicone tail. One of the main problems is getting it on. The tail is just so thick and has so much extra silicone that I can't get it on easily. I'm hoping that I can try and make it fit better and then I'll work on repainting it.

I just started today with getting out all the extra silicone that was on the inside of the tail. Here are some pictures:

Before starting I thought I'd have to use a knife to just even it out/sand it down but turned out that the silicone peeled right off with little effort. So problem #1 fixed :). & here's a picture of all the extra silicone:

But that brought on another problem, a serious problem. I tugged on the sides of the tail to test and see if they would come apart like the excess did, and it DID. So if I would have kept pulling it apart, I would have ended up with two sheets of silicone scales. Not good. Which makes me wonder, is the excess silicone (clear in the picture) and the main body (silver) made out of the same material? Because if they were wouldn't they be molded to where I wouldn't have been able to peel it off? I also noticed that there's some sort of fabric/fiber in between the silicone used for the body. (tan in the picture) I suppose it's for added strength and to resist tearing, but I thought the tails were made of 100% Dragonskin Silicone??

I just wanted your guys' thoughts and advice before moving onto the next issue :) Which will be painting, I have the PearlEx pigments on hand and some DragonSkin silicone to mix them into, but now I'm curious to know if I paint the tail with the silicone, will it peel off just like the inside did?

The fabric is probably power mesh
