Slee

Until the water tells me my mermaid name, I'm just Slee. Deep down, I've always always been a mermaid, dolphin kicking slowly and awkwardly through the water ever since I learned to swim, and asking my parents just why it was that people couldn't get gills if they could get all sorts of other things they weren't born with, like earrings, smaller noses and bigger boobs. In any case, my first monofin, a finis rapid is on it's way and I've been drafting a fabric tail pattern and getting monofin use preapproval from my pools (I'm a member of 3- it's overkill, but one's seasonal, since this is the snowy north, and the other two have different hours and features).
I'm really surprised that my spouse isn't looking at me like I have two heads right now. I mean, he always knew that I swim like a mermaid, but beyond that, I expected a little pushback. Instead all I got was "why did you order the rapid when the mahina is so colorful?" I'm impressed. Then again, this is also the man who gallantly attends a steampunk immersion convention for three days in the fall with me (where yes, I'll be swimming in the pool, in my tail, if anyone's wondering).
When I'm not underwater I'm probably parenting (two little swimmers), reading (I review books), writing (awesome but unfinished fantasy), sewing (dolls and steampunk costumes), or singing (occasionally a paid gig, but usually just for fun).
