Has everyone seen this!!! It is awesome, Mernation has come up with a silicone piece that cane be used in lieu of a belt to help with gaping in the back!!! It looks awesome like the Ariel tail with the area around the waist!! They have several different styles that can be made and of course custom colors!!! I think this is fabulous and I want to get one!!!

I think its a good idea but I personally don't like the
Look. Maybe as they refine it

What she said. They look too plain to me and not really as beautiful as the one Raven did with the Ariel tail.

I'm not convinced it won't gape either. Belts can gape. The Mer world gets so obsessed with these things I've never in 5 years had a client or kid notice. Rubber across skin will gap and fold because the body beneath it is mobile. I don't worry about it too much cuz the only people to say anything are other mermaids lol

But since it is other mermaids saying it... I do think they'll have a market for it. People clearly worry about that stuff. I'm just not sure their design is quite there.

I agree, this just looks like someone forgot to unfold their tail when they put it on! I personally love scarves and filmy, finlike fabric belts to cover the waist.

It is a very neat idea though!

Cool idea. I would rather a fishnet belt or something fabric instead.

Yep, it's a neat idea with poor execution.

I like scarves and belts too because they move so beautifully in the water and sort of add to the illusion.

I dont want to come across like a hater though :p Im sure people will buy this. Just not my thing.

I believe Raven did something related. It's from her photoshoot called "The little Merbella". In my honest opinion, her design looks quite nicer than those from MerNation.

I've been developing something, but I'm not quite ready to roll it out, but it should help with gapping, go over an existing tail and make a soft transition between scale and skin...

BUT I HAVE TO FINISH THIS FREAKIN' TAIL, FIRST!!!! :gah:

I don't think hers was designed at all though to prevent gaping, just to look like Ariel's fins. Personally I'm not fond of any waist fins, but I do think it's a great idea and I look forward to seeing more examples of it.

I like Raven's waist topper, so much like the animated character and well executed. Looks like the back could cause a LOT of drag.

I gotta say, I don't care for MerNation's version...they look so unfinished. But hey, whatever floats your boat.

they'v got a few more pics up and it honestly still just looks to me like other ariel styled waists. Im not sure how it prevents gap yet https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.953436071349247.1073741834.582890878403770&type=1

I think the Mernation ones "fill in the gap" a bit behind the waist where it shows in the Merbella pic. That space where it gaps. I am not sure if Merbellas is attached to the tail and that is why it gaps? The mernation ones are a separate piece all together which aids in keeping it from gaping by filling up that space without being controlled by the tail. Does that make sense? I would like to see how the entire tail looks with it. Its hard to see in the pictures they posted.

That what I am waiting for, I want to see someone else test swim in it before I commit!! I right now have a net belt and a purple belly dancer belt that is so cool to swim with!! I like the look of it personally and these are the first prototype so I am sure they will be refined as time goes. I just think the idea is pretty neat for those that do worry about the gaping
