HOORAY my first tail is DONE!

So I started a tailmaking thread of my own a while ago, but never remembered to actually update it, so I guess we're skipping right to the finished product!

LIVE, from my aunt's pool, it's Aquarianne and Her Very First Tail!

Also, Didn't get a whole lot of great shots of just the tail, but here you can see the fluke, albeit not the beautiful green and gold effects of the Lumiere paint, the light is washing it out :( The bits in between the veins are all shiny iridescent green-gold, and it looks quite flash in person! :) (and on video, at least)

I'm very pleased with how it came out...the drainage channels work great so there's no ballooning of the fluke at all, it's light in the water without being too bouyant, and even though the pool was shallow and I scraped the fluke a lot on the bottom, the paint stayed put!

The waist has a latex scale-patterned belt that cinches around my middle and clasps in the front, to keep it tight and not let water in (and to keep it from riding down when I sit!). The front of the tail body has a silver streak, the back has a slight gold.

Thanks y'all! I am very pleased with how it came out. I kinda did a weird thing with the tail body using latex and fabric, so that it has the scaly texture of a molded tail, but the stretchy comfort of a fabric tail. :D Which is great for me, because then I can get into it in about 30 seconds, without any lube or whatever. Wasn't looking forward to that bit.

Drake: thanks! It was a lot of trial and error, so like maybe a month? If I were to make another one, it would likely take about a week.

Kishiko: Thanks! It's only my first tail, so there's no way I'm diving into tailmaking any time soon. But I AM going to start making some beautiful embroidered, reinforced tail bags! I figure hey, I'm a professional seamstress, I make custom totes and portfolio bags all the time, and I need a bag myself anyway, so why not make custom ones for others? NICE ones, durable and made of nylon so they're waterproof, triangular with an easy zipper and some sturdy handles...and cute designs! Nothing says HELLO I AM A PROFESSIONAL MERMAID MAKING THE SCENE like a tailored custom bag! :D Maybe monogrammed even? Woop woop!

OceanRose: thanks! i swear up and down it looks better in person, you can actually see the depth of paint colors I used. I pigmented the latex, but also did a lot of gold and blue shiny paint details on the fluke...hopefully it will show up better in the vids!
