Scale fabric

Has anyone tried to make a tail about of that mesh you fabric with sequins already sewed on it like scales? Looks kinda like this:

You can run your hand across it and they all change directions. Just wondering if this would work or if the underneath would be too stretchy.

Just gotta make sure I got the right fabric for my first tail! Thought that would be a neat idea :)

This was already discussed here. Note that most people have found that these fabrics have very little to no stretch making them not ideal for tails
