Ideally how big would all you mers (busty or not) want seashells for tops to be? This is for.... Science. How many inches across would your ideal seashells be?

14", with a good curve. (obviously 14" flat wouldn't help or hold anything.)

I'm a D cup and anything below 7 inches is too small for it to look right- needs LOTS of foliage and throws off the balance. I put mine on bra bases now (too uncomfortable and not enough support) if that helps.

14", with a good curve...
Is that for each shell, or a whole top piece? Because 14 inches would cover my whole torso!
I am a very un-busty girl, but I think about 6 inches would be good for me, but it really depends on the shape.

I find that 6-61/2 is a good size for C cup though. For bra based tops you want to go off the size of the cup. I've gone to stores with ruler to measure across the cup so I would know what size shells to order :P 5-5 1/2 is good for A-B cups.

Just a friendly reminder that cup sizes without band sizes are virtually useless due to volume differences...
As a 32C I would say 4.5 to 5 inches would be about right depending on the curve.

Per shell. I thought she was asking for individual shell sizes. It'd be really uncomfortable to try and cover your topwith only one shell, no matter how busty or un-busty a mer is, I would think.

I'm very small chested with a pretty small torso (28 band) and I would need 5 inches probably apiece...any bigger and it wouldn't really work. :P

Bumping this mostly because I would like some more opinions. I think for me, 7-8 inches wide is about right.

I don't know. If I see seashells in a shop, I usually just hold them up to my boobs! I am growing a small stash of seashells for when I become brave enough to wear them!

How so? Covering the cup is what is important when talking about the size of shells. I mean cup sizes can differ from brand to brand but they're mostly the same general size. The cup size will stay the same even if the band size is different. *confused*

If someone only provides cup size, you actually don't know how big that is. The actual volume of a 34 D is the same as a 32 DD and a 36 C. It's a common misconception that all the bras with the same cup size are the same when they really aren't.

Yep! Plastic surgeons have determined that the volume of the breast is more accurate than cup size which is why implants are measured in CCs and not cup size.

NEVER would have known. That's crazy!
That would explain why I ordered a 36A for a client and I swore it looked more like a B cup than an A. Hum, interesting!

You'd be surprised how many people don't realize how big (or small! Hehe pun intended) of a difference there is within cup sizes. If you want good real life examples do an individual image search for 32, 36, and 40 within a specific cup and you'll be amazed.
And yeah, by sister size logic that 36A would be a 34B which is a pretty common size.

Yup! I figured out that Im not a 34A (Smallest size available at most general stores) But rather a 30D :) thats why so many people have bras that dont fit properly.
Theres a thread where it was discussed here: http://mernetwork.com/index/showthread.php?581-Not-so-busty-Mers/page3&highlight=small+bust+mers

So I'm trying to think of a name for my etsy shop/ mermaid brand. So far thinking:
Tide treasures
Tidepool treasures
Tidepool finds
Shoreline something or something like what the tide washed up or idk. This is related to this thread a little but really I didn't want to start a new thread for it. So what do you think?

I like Tidepool Treasures. The alliteration works well.

I know you didn't intend to say it as a name, but I like the way "What the Tide Washed Up" sounds.... It's fun to say.

I vote for Tidepool Treasures too, it was easiest to say.

I actually did mean to say it as a name lol but I think it's too long and hard to remember. I think I'm leaning towards tidepool treasures now. My little slogan can be: 'between the salt water and the sea strand'
