Hi all! I'm mostly a lurker, but my daughter and I have been making fabric tails for ourselves this summer, with an eye for working up to something more realistic. I doubt we'll ever work up to full silicone, but who knows?

Anyway, this popped up on my facebook feed, and I thought OMG. Y'all need to see this lamp! (Sorry if it's been posted already)

It's entirely made of plastic spoons! Here's the link with more info. (http://www.stylisheve.com/diy-plastic-spoon-lamp-by-yaroslav-olenev/)

Hmm. Now I wonder what a spork pattern might look like....

I love it :) Why not for a tail?

Ooh I love spoon projects!

that would make one seriously dimensional tail. Not to mention be excellent for hiding bumps :thinks:

Plastic spoons don't bend very well though. ..

Meilyn: I think theyre saying as a mold, like some people use foam circles, clay, etc) Cast the spoons with plaster or resin or what not, then make a cast of that mold with silicone (:

Yeah-- the challenge is getting your scales uniform. I thought this was a fun alternative to craft foam or stickers, though it probably would be way too thick and bumpy for a tail. Or maybe not! I've never made one.

How about plastic soup spoons? I feel like they're more shallow than a regular plastic spoon (maybe?) Plus they're more rounded, which I personally would like better.

A plastic spoon tail (yay, white tail) would at least be less expensive than a sequin one.
I also like the form, scales aren't really round.

Would require a lot of drilling holes through spoons, though :thinks:
