Hi guys,

What is the best way of re-scaling a tail without taking the two halves apart? I just tried with my chicken wire and it just raised and wouldn't stay to make the pattern created a large mess. Now i must start again. Any ideas?

do you have any photos to show? What do you mean by rescale? Like, the tail already exists and you want to make new scale sheets instead?

I know old silicone or old latex wont bond well to new stuff which is why it probably is layering an dnot working well. You may need to make seperate pieces of patches and attach them

Sorry Raina I didn't explain it very well. I have spend the last 8 agonizing months ripping all the latex off my fish butt tail and now starting again with pure latex. I am just using the stamp method but the bloody mesh I m using will not stay down to create the scale pattern. If i weigh down th sides it just raises in the middle.

Is the problem with the chicken wire itself or the latex? I guess I'm wondering if your chicken wire is not laying flat (meaning trying to curl up or something.)

Oh, another thought- are the folds of the seams too thick, making the skin dip in the center so the wire mesh won't contact it properly?

She made them from Alex, Anyway I am just having a problem with the mesh staying down. But I am going to have a go at doing it bit by bit and using hair dryer. Wish me luck!
