at 24 years old i still break down into tears every time i read the original littler mermaid. or watch the few movies about the Hans Christian Andersen version.
could you imagine, giving everything you are and suffering in utter silence for love, only to not have that love returned, thrown away and looked over as if it were nothing.
300 years given away for one lifetime and one man
a voice silenced by love
all for nothing..all to just die at the the end of it all:cry:
here i am crying an pissed over the fate of a fictional character from a book written nearly a millennia ago.
how long did her sisters and father and grandmother wait for her to come home, to come swimming back through the palace doors and into their arms
how did the prince feel when he woke from his wedding bed and found his mute little foundling gone without a trace. did he realize then that it was she who saved him and she who he should have married, did he care...did he regret.
were any tears shed for the little mute girl who washed up out of the sea:cry:
