Fins to prevent wrinkles?

So I've finished my tail and the only part where it really scrunches is in the ankles. I was wondering if putting a pair of ankle fins on the sides would prevent this.

Yeah, that's kinda what I meant. I just wondered if it would be effective enough to bother ripping my tail open and adding them.

I know Raven use to do ankle fins, but she doesn't like putting them on tails anymore because she says they rip easy and actually make getting the winkle there out even harder than it already is, even when you know what you're doing putting on the tail.
