Seams suck!
Finfolk has beat the seam, and so has Pearlie Mae (she has also in my humble opinion made the most beautiful mermaid tail yet)
I have worked hard to beat the seam, without using the single scale method that Pearlie Mae and finfolk use. I am very proud of my results!

How do the seams on your tail look?
I would love to see photos!

Wow, wonderful job on your seams! Would you be able to give me any tips at all, I'm nearly to that stage with making my own tail, but I'm quite worried about seaming! Completely fine if you want to keep it a trade secret! :p

My best hint is pour THIN where you are going to seam. Try not to ever cut a scale in half, it is a dead give away. Tiny clamps are your friends! Take your time. It's the longest part of the process for us.

Thanks, good to confirm what I was thinking, I was wondering how you cover the seams so well when the tails are supposed to be quite thick!
Thank you for sharing ^_^

I'm just melting the scales together. But I'm interested: what is the single scale method?

It's basically where you cast your scales one at a time instead of using a scale sheet.
Definitely check out Pearlie's thread if you want more info!

It's a SEAMLESS neoprene tail made by Morticia Mermaid Siren's Calling (https://www.facebook.com/SirensCallingTails). idk how she did it you would have to ask her

You are too sweeeeeeeeet!
Finfolk is really doing single scales? I vaguely remember it being mentioned. Does anyone have one? I'd love to see it.

Yeah its like a $1,000 upgrade, they're pretty cool but I don't really see the difference since they paint it as a while (as apposed to you painting them individually) it is pretty awesome that they lift up though

Their betta tail is single scale and there's another one too.... They have a video. They don't stick the whole scale down.

I know Odette does her scales so they lift, too, and I tried it, but I thought it would be problematic and incredibly hard to keep clean. I love the way my scales stretch with me when I'm swimming, and they stay nice and streamlined. As for Finfolk's individual scales, I don't care for how thick they are, or the pinecone-y look, but that's just my opinion.
Those are some striking and beautiful tails, though, and Odette makes some excellent tails, too.
My scales aren't painted. The silicone is mixed with pigments and they are solid colors all the way through.
Sorry, didn't mean to hijack... now, back to the seam discussion.... :)

Oh I know ;) I followed your thread. I mean, they airbrush the tail when it's assembled, as you pigmented each individually, then assembled.
