Underwater Music Festival 2015

So I got the idea to ask about doing an organized appearance at the festival this coming year this was the response,

We would welcome participation from any members of you group who would like to join the fun!*

We met after our event this past July to discuss some changes/improvements.* The past two years had high winds, which kept participation rather low.* This summer’s event was beautiful, with calm waters and bright sunshine . . . hundreds of people were out at the Reef, all trying to get to the mermaid and people in costume, making it very difficult for our professional videographers to get clear shots and good footage.

What was decided was that we would work with each of our dive shops/charter boats to encourage each of them to hold costume parties/contests on each of the boats, thereby spreading the costumed divers throughout the Reef, rather than concentrating them in one spot.

I learned how to scuba dive at Seacamp at Big Pine Key. Looe Key was a popular site for diving! :)

Well today I will be calling the boat areas to see who wants mermaids and mermen on their boats

I don't know if I'll be in Florida during the festival... My family wants to go to NC around that time and if they go I have to as well. I'll know as the date approaches, but no doubt anyone who goes will have a load of fun!

Next Year July 2015 I think it's the 11th or 15th somewhere near there.

I agree I haven't heard back from any of the local boaters yet but I encourage other mers to reach out and offer their services.

Ok looks like a lot of places are starting to look into profiles and photos of mermaids on mernetwork and our FB pages. I've given them all links to the groups as well as the few personal ones I have on mine. Oh I've had a few people ask so I'll say this now, there's a good chance I won't me with you guys as a performer but as a friend in a tail. I'm nowhere near good enough to count myself among you guys yet. ^.^ I enjoy organizing things and helping people find events that work for them, I enjoy my tail and maybe one day would love to entertain in it, but right now I'm pretty good with being the one behind the scenes making sure you guys have a great time.

Local shops are also asking me for mermaids that would like to help them out, so if you're interested please let me know if you would prefer to be with a professional dive/boat shop or one of the local boat rental places.

Well I certainly need more practice swimming before going swimming at reefs :P I'd love to do something like this though, my only problem is I am on the complete opposite end of the country at the moment! I also have a mertender to lend out a hand to others at any event, he has experience with SCUBA (and was certified) and is interested in getting into a monofin/tail himself :)

every time i go on a boat in the keys to dive i puke and end up not being able to dive. and yes ive tried everything
