Sorry if this is the wrong thread but is there anyone who makes fabric tails like merbella does scilicone? I don't want the generic tails from big comapnies, I'd like to design it at the very least as well as have soem input on it's creation. Right now any tail I make will be hand sewn until I can buy a machine and even then I'm not that talented.
I'm alos having a problem finding a tail for larger mermaids, I'v elost weight and still doing so but most fabric tails I see for sale are for smaller sizes. Or the plus sized one cost almsot as much as a scilicone tail does. Any help mersisters or am I just going to have to buckle down and make my own?

No fabric tail should be close to a silicone tail unless it's sequins. I'm not sure where you're seeing a plus size spandex tail being close to silicone in price...but I wouldn't trust it.
AquaTails can take specific measurements.
MerNation I believe can take specific measurements.
Miami Beach Mermaids I know does, and can work with you on a custom design (I approached them about one a while back).
I'd recommend looking into one of these companies, pretty sure Mertailor does too and a few others. Just off the top of my head I know of these. The above ones will all work with you about a custom design for your tail!
There might even be a specific mer member here who might be interested in making you one as a once-off commission as I know that's happened a fair bit! :)

Fabric tail is just sewing two sides! Four if its sewing on a different fluke color than the tail color. Fins can be sewn into the tail when you do the sides so there is no further sewing after tail completion.
And you don't need a big fancy sewing machine. Mine is just a very basic model, cost me A$120, with four types of stitches and size changer (size of stitches), and a button hole stitch. As long as you can do zig zag stitch, you will be fine.

Foxmoon does great fabric tails, I and I remember them as having a pretty high level of customization when I was looking at them before. Always remember to ask a company if they'll do custom work for you- 9/10 times they'll do it, they just don't advertise that :)

If you are considering even neoprene, Siren's Calling (https://www.facebook.com/SirensCallingTails) makes AMAZING tails with REAL high grade neoprene! SUPER customizable and VERY affordable!

Neoprene looks nice but I'm not sure how well I can swim in it to be hoenst more than a little self concious of my weight and neoprene form fits tight from wha tI understand.

All tails fit tight, but I don't think that should hold you back!

Well, neoprene smooths out curves and forms better than spandex. Spandex is much thinner, as you know. But all tails fit tight

This is my mernation tail. They worked with me to make sure that the dorsal and fluke fringe were what I wanted. They make the tail to your measurements.

You're welcome! Believe me he's exactly what you're looking for because his tails can be customized in design as you want from the shape to colors and everything else you can think about and the price is very tiny!
Moreover you can add silicone in some point of the tail as an upgrade for a better realistic look as I did (look at my Facebook page to see pictures and videos of the silicone upgrade so you can have an idea of how it looks) and it's incredibly stunning! Still the price won't be too high! :)
Let me know :)

If you're willing to try someone on here I'd love to make you a tail! I'd like to start offering tails so I'd do one at cost (fabric, fin, thread, shipping) and maybe 15% for my time. I've done a couple fabric tails before and could do any extra fins you might want as well.

Mer-tails is a company that belongs to me and merman Alexander born by the meeting of our passion for mermaids and our ideas, we didn't show the company here on the forum because from August we got really busy and I wanted merman Alexander to present the company here on the forum because it's something that belongs also to him and I don't think it's right to do everything without him.
Anyway again any questions are welcome ;)
