Hi all

I'm learning two dances for a larp performance at the end of october. I will be a belly dancer there and while one dance is going pretty well I have a lot of trouble mastering the other.
It has a lot pirouete like turns, but I can't seem to be able to do them without getting dizzy after the first 2 turns. My husband looked at my turns and he says that I lose my focus point when I turn. It has something to do with being dyslectic, which has been proved by nummerous tests, that we have trouble doing 2 different things with our limbs :P
Now I'm stuborn and I want to try and learn the move after all. I know there are some dancers around here and I hope that you could give me some tips about how to make those turns. I've tried looking online, but I only find the ballet style pirrouetes :(

This is the dance I want to try and learn.

getting dizzy doing turns is normal.
It takes practice and focus point work to make it better.

You take a certain thing in your view as your focus, which you can easily see from where you dance.
You look at it before you do a turn, then start turning while keeping your head as long unmoving as you can.
Then, once you're almost around, you bring your head around too with a single swift motion and immediately look at your focus point again to stabilize your body.

Without a focal point, the human body is not able to avoid dizziness due to the way the inner ear works.
(it's the same underwater btw, when doing flips and turns)

I've been trying that, but then my feet won't make a turn correctly as I'm making the steps for my turn. Maybe I have to start with my practice turns at a slower revolution speed.
Underwater isn't so bad for me, cause my feet are bound then and there is no way to lose balance :P Also for some reason I don't get dizzy that fast in water then when I do it on land.

Unless you have your heart set on doing exactly what she's doing in the video, it would be easy to simplify this by slowing down the turns to half speed. You can add a flutter to the wings to add movement & distract from the fact that you're turning more slowly.

That is also a good idea, thank you :)
