You could start with a fabric tail. I recommand the tails made in Germany on the website Magictail : http://www.magictail.de/

I have one that I used before updating to silicone. They are really good and not expensive!

Welcome! I have to agree that a Magictail is a great starter tail. I purchased two last year and I've really enjoyed them. Someday we will get our own fancy silicone tails too... :) I'm a fellow Florida Mer - Gulfcoast.
