My New Project: Sequin tail.

Hello, i will create my official mermaid to perform.

I want create with sequin, but i have a question (strange I Know :$ ):

How does it sequins on average for a full tail ?

I'm very tall for a girl ^^ (184cm), my legs are tall too (120cm waist to floor ).

I ask this question to get an idea for people of average height like that, I will notify me.

It depends on what size sequin and how you plan to apply them. I used a mix of 8mm, 6mm, and 4mm sequins and applied them by glueing them, and it took nearly 50,000 sequined to cover almost the whole thing. I'm shorter than you, 163cm, but my fluke is very big. The tail is 160cm from top to bottom. If you plan to use larger sequins or plan to sew them on then you would need less. I got all my sequins from sequinsdirect.com

thank you for your answer. I think use 14mm sequins. I think is a good size, i d'ont like 47mm i find them too large.
I suppose i will use 80,000/100,000. very big job for me ^^

I will buy sequins in october. Now i need choice colors. I hesitate between red/gold/orange, blue/green, Silver/gold, pink/purple/green ^^

I'm sewing a neoprene tail at the moment and was contemplating covering it in sequins, but it would be more expensive than a full silicone tail even if I used the biggest sequins available.

Finally I had a new idea rather nice . I will use sequins but also rose petals fabric to create the scales. It will make me use less sequins, but I would have a single queue with the mix of materials .

What a great idea, Laureen! I'm curious how it will turn out. There will probably be more drag, and I suspect the fabric petals will be a little fragile unless you coat them with silicone or latex or even nail polish. But if you can improve their durability, rose petals would be really lovely.

Finally for this one, I want paint and sequins. It's very long to paint scales one by one. But i love it.

Finally i don't use sequins for this tail. I think this tail is just perfect without sequins. I will make a sequin tail later ^^
