Hi all

My name is James but everyone calls me Jamie. Don't know yet if I am going to make a new Mer name
Live near Brisbane Australia (The Land Down Under)
I honestly don't remember when my interest with Mermaids/Merman started but have always been into a lot of the ocean mythology and i used to watch H2O with my little sister who has wanted to be a mermaid since she could talk. I have recently made her a promise (I intend to keep) that I would get a tail and go swimming with her and try and make kids and adults smile.
We both love the water and hate when we cant go swimming.
I don't own a tail yet but i am trying to design 2 at the moment (probably one fabric for practice and one silicone) but am having a hard time getting the ideas out of my head and on to paper and also love looking at the construction process of the tails.
I am getting a monofin sometime in the next month to start practicing.

Hi Jamie! Welcome! It's always nice to see more mermen swimming here! You'll certainly have plenty of people to bounce your design ideas off of here. :-D

Not a lot. Life is its usual stressful ordeal but actually having a small break which is a welcome change but still plenty to catch up on.

welcome to the forum!

I was in Townsville once, I adore Australia and the northern climate is made for me.
sadly I couldn't afford living there, so I'm freezing my tail off here instead :((

Oh, gosh! I'm pretty much already melting. :jawdrop:

Only in a public pool, making a new fabric tail since I had to leave my other tails back home. Got a lot of funny looks for using a monofin but it's nothing new. I'm hoping to go swimming at the beach sometime soon if I wasn't on babysit duty and could get to beach from Forest lake.

If you ever want a swimming buddy, let me know! It's good to have others there to get strange looks with :P

Depending on how my finances are, I might end up in Brisbane either for Christmas or my birthday. So if ya wanna meet up for a swim, that would be super cool!

I will be moving to Brisbane very early next year. Excited to meet all the local mers and hopefully go for a swim once I get my new tail (won't be until around August sadly)

You don't need a tail to swim! :) also, I have a Finis Wave, so I could always bring it along to meetups!

Well, with normally swimming at least with one or three others it is rather lonely swimming alone, company is always welcome! I tend to go swimming every Wednesday since the children have swimming classes on. I don't remember the name of the pool though, so next time they go I'll write it down and send you a message, see if we can arrange a meet up. :swoon: To meet other mers who aren't my family would be a nice change.

I work full time, so I'm only really free on Sundays and Mondays (I work a shifted 5 day week). Evenings would also work, though!
