Hey y'all, just thought I'd share the video from the most recent Louisiana Meetup. On the last day of summer, mermaids gathered in New Orleans for a truly magical event. We had 8 mermaids total!

Here are some things that we noticed:

Make sure to locate the place on a map before you start driving. A few people got a little lost...

Booking a pool can take a while. We got turned down at a number of places before one would let us host our meetup. Stressing the fact that many of our mermaids are professionals seemed to help sway opinion from "Are y'all crazy" to "Ok, that sounds pretty cool."

Indoor pools aren't the best for taking photos. A lot of stuff came out blurry or green.
Don't worry if you're not the "best". The point is to have fun.

The lifeguards are way awesome. Our guy, Greg, said that we were the easiest party he's ever done!

Split the cost: we were able to average $20 per person for the pool rental, which isn't bad.

If you have a business, this is a business expense: count your millage and any other costs. Things like this count as business networking and professional development.

You will feel like you've know these mermaids your whole life, even if you just met! I'm serious: something about being a mermaid just connects people :)

We had all kinds of different tails there. Every single one of them is beautiful. And the people wearing them are even more beautiful!

You will learn a lot from others. Keep your ears open. You might pick up a few tricks :)

The green tail second closest on the picture looks very interesting, the fluke is so transparent!

^that'd be me :). It's lexan with flexible tubing glued to it. The tubing I painted with paint made for use on car tires. Not too difficult to make if you like the look :thumbs-up:

Oh wow, that looks like it was sooo much fun! And that pool just looks wonderful :3 Everyone is so pretty, just look at all those gorgeous tails! You guys got some great footage! How funny that the lifeguard said you were the easiest party he's ever done :P

Aziara, I absolutely love that Lexan monofin you've got going there - the flow is beautiful, and of course all that translucence! That's helpful to see in action, because my mertender is thinking of making his own monofin out of lexan as well :)

Lol! What I meant was that if someone wanted to make a similar fluke, I wouldn't mind. I'm always really suprised how much folks like such a simple fluke as mine!

Aziara that fluke is the coolest non silicone one I have seen! I really love that look! Don't be so modest it looks great! I'd pay for that. I really would.
